ComicCon '04/ Look whose back
**NOTE: All of these were typed up right after I got back to my aunt's house after ComicCon, that's why it sounds like the way it does. Also its REALLY LONG.
Before you start reading:
I'm glad (and I find it kinda funny for some reason) that everyone is getting back into the LOTR love. I'm pretty happy about the fact I started getting back into it before I went to ComicCon =)
Well on Wednesday, our flight got delayed by three hours so instead of arriving in San Diego at about 1 in the morning, we arrived at around 3 or so plus it was a two hour drive to my aunt’s house, where we’re obviously staying. After two hours of sleep and another hour of driving…COMICCON!
The first thing we did was of course was the LOTR pavilion. It was again noticeable and had some of the same displays as last year but they had an awesome new one. It was a bunch of mannequins that had all of the characters clothes on them. Like Aragorn’s costume at the end along with Eowyn’s, Arwen’s, Faramir’s and well you know. Then me and Chelsea headed to Sideshow Weta so I could get that exclusive Gollum bust and of course they just had to sell out and I had to be put on the waiting list.
We then decided to go shopping and I bought a Frodo, Sam, and Gollum mouse pad, Merry and Pippin pencil case, the There and Back again journal (you know so I could have Billy, David, and Dominic sign it), Kill Bill Japanese poster, Goonies button, the Bride and Gogo action figure. Oh yeah and we jacked about 5 mega huge Lost posters.
We headed over to the Star Wars section and dude they had a buttload of people going for autographs. But holy crap it there a price range. R2 D2’s and such were like 15-20 bucks, Carrie Fisher’s is 35 dollars which is understandable and frigging Mark Hamill has to be $85! I mean I know you’re Luke Skywalker, but not cool.
A whole lot of nothing happed since we were waiting, well I was waiting, for the Donnie Darko presentation. We decided to wait outside, I called Nikki! Yay! Hahaha, yeah then I called Iris and talked to her for a while.
3:30 hit and we went up for the Donnie Darko thing. No, Jake Gyllenhaal by the way. What a rip off, they didn’t even show footage from the director’s cut because the studio wouldn’t allow it. They suck. The whole thing was a basic Q&A. This one person simply asked, “What does it mean?!” that’s what I would like to know but you know Richard Kelly uses the default, “It all what you make of it.” Pure BS, I wanna know what the heck the movie’s about! Yeah and there was this guy who was really into the movie, he made his own Donnie outfit and believed that the time travel book actually existed. He again asked what the movie was about and Richard Kelly then said, “Its about love.” The guy left the room all angry and that must suck being made fun of by the director of your favorite movie. I felt bad for the guy but at the same time, he was just way too weird.
We were also in the summer movie preview panel and the funny part was when they were talking about the Seed of Chucky and they mentioned Billy Boyd as the voice and all and the placed went nuts! From then on they name dropped LOTR actors just to get a scream. Like, “That looks like a great movie but it would be better if it had…SEAN ASTIN!” The thing is when they said Orlando, there was like a whimper.
The Ringer presentation came up and it was so hilarious. I loved it. They showed clips from the documentary. The fans sort pissed me off in the sense that they would scream for everyone like Elijah or Billy but they were quiet when Peter Jackson came on screen. Holy crap everyone, he’s kinda the director, without him no movie. Oh and the Andy Serkis footage was priceless. Oh and there was a surprise guest appearance by Sala Baker! And this one guy said that he preferred the animated LOTR movies over Peter’s and everyone got pissed, booed him…including Sala it was great.
Tomorrow is a big day with me and Chelsea running around a lot to meet Keanu Reeves, Michael Madsen, Billy Boyd, and David Wenham!!!
Today we got to the center at about 10 and there was already a line to get into the WB preview for Batman Begins and Constantine (WITH KEANU!). We got in line and basically waited for an hour and a half. They let us in and the room that they had it in was huge. Like way huge compared to last year’s. We waited again for about another hour and a half and then it was time. And we were really close to the stage.
First the writer of Batman and Cillian Murphy (he had pretty eyes) came out, it was kinda boring seeing is that they weren’t allowed to show anything from the movies and the Q&A was pretty boring too. Oh and the showed a message from Christopher Nolan and Christian Bale and wow Christian Bale looked really really stoned and really really confused. I don’t see why girls think he’s hot. If you wanna see hot look down to our next panellist.
Then they showed an 18 minute preview of Constantine and it looks frigging awesome. I mean I nearly shit myself once or twice but hey as long as I get to see a hot Keanu fighting demons, its all good. And then they brought out the guests and another Q&A began and Keanu Reeves came out. I felt kinda bad for everyone else on the panel because most/all of the questions were directed towards Keanu. He was hot, but he could have been hotter if he had shorter hair, no beard, and looked like he did in The Matrix or Constantine. It was great cuz this one guy, who didn’t really ask a question said that he hopes its rated R because he’s sick of PG-13 movies. Keanu’s response? “Fuck.” Man, I love this man even more. We taped the entire presentation (minus the clips of course) so if I ever figure out how to upload videos onto the internet…yeah. Keanu didn’t do a signing, I wasn’t surprised but disappointed since I wanted to meet him oh so very much.
We went outside since they made us and we wanted to go meet Michael Madsen. There was already a line forming for the New Line panel, but we wanted to meet Mr. Blonde. So we wasted an hour just to kill time till 3. I bought a hobbit lunch box and Chelsea bought a Sin City comic book (or to you Ringers…Elijah’s next movie). It was 3 and we went to his booth and we didn’t realize till 15 minutes later that we were in the wrong section. I hate ComicCon for giving two booths the same name. So we went upstairs to find out that he had cancelled his signings (*shakes fist*). I got really pissed off because we wasted an hour and half when we could have been waiting in line. So we went back to wait in like for something that was two hours later and the line went around the perimeter of the building, inside and out, and into the streets (after we were in it). Pissed, I called Iris. I called Nikki again and she called me again with info about her friend Shawn who could give us inside info.
I called Shawn and we decided to meet up after the panel. We got are seats, pretty close for where we were in line but they were kinda crappy since we couldn’t see anything.
The first thing was about Blade 3 and we saw Jessica Biel and Ryan Reynolds (can someone please explain to me why people think he's hot? I mean he's not ugly but eh). It was pretty boring for me because, I personally didn’t care. It was the cutest thing was that this 6 or 7 year old kid asked Jessica Biel, “How did you disappear behind that bus?” (he was talking about the clip we just saw) And she said, “I’m fast” it was so cute. Then the people who play Harold and Kumar from Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle,John Cho and Kal Penn came out. Eh, it was ok.
They showed the never before seen clips of ROTK:EE and it was frigging awesome. Awesome isn’t even worthy of describing it. It was narrated by Saurman (!!!!!!) and they showed a bunch of other cool scenes including the Mouth of Sauron, holy crap that was cool. Then they showed the interviews as they normally do and whoa Elijah Wood was hot in his. Merry’s speech about just wanted to help his friends, I felt a tear coming on. Oh yeah and this was all introduced by Peter himself. Then Billy Boyd and David Wenham came. David looked especially hot today I might add and Billy too XD. They talked about lots of stuff about the movie (we have it all on tape!) and they showed 2 clips. One of Faramir and Eowyn, which was the cutest thing ever, and a Faramir and Pippin one which was really great. I’ll only talk about the highlights which is when Billy talked about a prank pulled on him and Dominic. It was the “rewrite” script for the scene where they first meet Treebeard. What the “rewrite” said was that they both were to climb Treebeard, fall down through his branches and their clothes would be ripped off. They would be lying at Treebeard’s feet naked and the lines were: Pippin-”That’s weird, its cold.” Merry-”Yeah, hold me.” Ultimate slash moment. Then he and Dominic had hour discussions because they really thought they were filming it. Priceless. And Billy talked about when they were filming the scene when Sam and Rosie got married and him and Viggo were behind the camera doing the cheering noises. On one of the takes Viggo grabbed Billy and kissed him full on the mouth. "I felt little nauseated and a little horny." They showed us another clip that isn’t going to even be on the DVD. Chelsea broke the rules and taped it. it’s a really bad cut of it but seeing it isn’t important since it’s the dialogue that’s funny. Dominic was taking the piss for Viggo about him not coming to the Oscars by saying he was throwing a jello mold party where the molds were of the Oscar statues and that they would have to spank Viggo with them and say, “YOU ARE THE KING!” over and over. Dominic even said he had proof and it was just basically going back between Dominic’s story and Viggo’s reaction. Best line from Viggo? “I don’t talk about my personal life.” Again, will try to figure out how to get this on the computer. Ooh Billy also talked about "Half Fling" and just explained it saying that its a language that Dominic and Elijah sometimes talk to each other to in and no one understands it. He also said that Viggo's album was just them messing around.
Met Shawn after the panel and we got some info about the possibility of Billy and David signing tomorrow and it not crossing with Dominic’s signing. So hopefully, we’ll get to meet them along with Dominic. We have to get up at 6:30 so yeah. Oh and
laerwen I gave her your letter.
P.S. Thanks to Nikki for the hook up with Shawn and thanks to Shawn for the Billy/David info hook up.
P.P.S Michael Madsen maybe signing on Sunday with a little arrow pointing at his name according to the ComicCon paper which said he cancelled. Thanks for putting it after his signing was suppose to start. It was very helpful.
Hmm, today, a Saturday and one of the greatest days EVAH! We got to the center at 9:30. Chelsea went off to find if Billy and David were signing and if so when and tried to get tickets for the Dominic signing while went to wait in line for the panel for Lost. So we met up and Dominic tickets were sold out, we were pissed. But I hoped he would come with Billy and David which was at 12. The panel for Lost consisted of the first episode screening of Lost, I liked it for the most part and I was glad to find out that thing in the trees was NOT a dinosaur of any kind. Thank you. And a Q&A that followed. Two words: Dominic Monaghan. Best question for me was when someone asked Dominic if he would be a pirate or a ninja, “Orlando has the pirate thing covered, so I would be a ninja.” Again, I filmed all this again. Oh by the way, Dominic has gotten rid of the "mullet"! Thank God!
Then we got to the New Line booth. You again had to get a ticket to get Billy and David’s autograph and there were only 360. Luckily, we both got some! Then we got in the line and holy crap did it take forever! They were showing ROTK and before they stopped it before Theoden dies. And we still had quite a ways to go. Then they had to take a break. It was cool though because they walked through us to come back and to take a break. Then the weirdest thing happened. Without knowing it because we were both looking at other things and people in the convention we totally didn’t realize that Dominic Monaghan walked by us and he was like a few inches from us. Then we heard a scream and we looked up and I was like, “Oh its Dominic!“ Actually, that was the third time I saw him today which saddens me even more because that makes it a total 4 times actually 5 times I’ve seen him and I still haven’t met the guy. I wished he stayed, I could care less about getting his autograph, I just wanted to meet him, I figured I would have had proof either way. But when we got there, it was awesome. David Wenham was first. I was filming everything and he was really confused and scared by it. I was like ok and he just handed me the autograph, I mean he said hi and all that and I didn‘t really care because he was hot. With Billy we actually got to talk to him and he was happier to see me behind the camera. He kept doing faces to the camera, it was great. And he gave me the autograph. It was pretty rushed and I could understand that but they wouldn’t allow us to take a personal of photo us with them and I wanted my name on the autograph. I didn’t even get a handshake or to touch them or anything. Either way:
I MET DAVID WENHAM AND BILLY BOYD!
Next, I got in line to meet Carrie Fisher. Holy crap:
I MET FRIGGING PRINCESS LEIA!!!
She was really nice even though she didn’t want pictures taken of her because she thought she looked like crap, which she didn’t. And even though I paid for only one autograph, she signed a CD for my driving instructor, Gabe, he’s a major Star Wars geek who wanted Mark Hamill’s which isn’t happening since I don’t wanna pay 85 bucks and tomorrow he’s signing but he won’t sign Star Wars stuff.
We then went shopping and I bought a Smallville poster for Mae since I felt bad I couldn’t get her the cast autographs since I was in line for Billy and David, a Fight Club poster for Erika, and a Gogo poster for moi.
Then we went to the Mark Hamill panel. God it was hilarious. It had Tom Kenny whose the voice of Spongebob, the voice of Yakko (whose also the voice of Carl Wheezer on Jimmy Neutron), the voice of Wakko, the voice of Jimmy Neutron, and of course Mark Hamill. It was great, they talked in their voices and the guy whose plays Yakko is also Pinky from Pinky and the Brain and he talked in that voice and sang (as Yakko) all the countries of the world.
What an end to a great a day. I didn’t get to meet Dominic which I’m a little saddened about but other that it was awesome. Tomorrow we’ll hopefully meet Mark Hamill and everyone listed above at his panel and everyone buy his movie Comic Book: The Movie. I haven’t seen it but it looks frigging funny and great, plus its about ComicCon.
Today might have been the best day of ComicCon, actually its prolly a tie with this and yesterday.
We got to the center at about 9 or 9:20 and we ran over to the Mark Hamill Comic Book: The Movie signing. We were pretty far ahead in the line (we were like 20th or 30th or so). The line movie moved up just so they could scrunch everyone and fit more people and we ended up at the rope area so we could basically see everyone arriving. Debi Derryberry (voice of Jimmy Neutron) came first and she was so nice, she talked to everyone in line and signed pre-autographs I guess you could say. Then Rob Paulsen walked right in front of us (voice of Yakko on Animaniacs, Pinky from Pinky and the Brain, and Carl Wheezer from Jimmy Neutron). Then Mark Hamill came, frigging Luke Skywalker was right in front of us. Wow. Then Roger Rose and Jess Harnell (voice of Wakko from Animaniacs) came. Tome Kenny (Spongebob) was the only one from the panel the night before not there. I was sad, I wanted to meet him most of all which is really sad since Mark Hamill was RIGHT THERE. Well, while we were waiting in line we heard someone talking about Michael Madsen. It caught me and Chelsea’s attention mainly because we’ve been waiting for him since Friday. Then Chelsea asked the guy why he was talking about Mr. Madsen and then guy behind him pointed and said, “Look he’s over there.” Now, I thought it was one of those made you look things but Chelsea looked and started freaking out and I turned around to see Mr. Blonde, Budd, Michael Madsen sitting a few yards away from me. Now we really wanted this line to hurry up.
When we got to the front Debi Derryberry (she has a really cool name) was the first one (they all signed my Comic Book: The Movie DVD) she signed my DVD and said, “Nice to meet you, April.” Jimmy Neutron said my name! XDD Next was Rob Paulsen, I love this man. He started talking about my shirt which was of the Beatles and how Jess Harnell was a huge fan and had all four of their signatures. We started talking about that until I moved down the line to Roger Rose. He said while signing the DVD, “You know I play the bad guy in this movie, and chicks dig the bad ones.” I moved on to Jess Harnell who was talking to Chelsea about favorite Beatle and Beatle songs in a very good Ringo voice which he also asked me. I said Paul and George and “Yesterday” He replied, “Oh you’re a Paul/ George girl!” Roger Rose jumped in and said Jess was the 5th Beatle. Jess said, “Yeah, I’m Paulgo.” And he asked us if we seen Paul in concert. We had to say no. Then was Mark Hamill. Oh my fucking God. I can’t believe I met him. I also took a picture with him. Holy crap it was great. Its kinda sad because when I asked for a picture with him he was all, “Of course!” and when Chelsea asked him, he was all, “Make it quick.” As we walked away, Jess waved his hand at us while saying in a Ringo voice, “SHE LOVES YOU YEAH YEAH YEAH!” God, I’m so glad I wore that shirt. Mark Hamill drew a heart on mine *feels loved* Dude:
I MET DEBI DERRYBERRY, ROB PAULSEN, ROGER ROSE, JESS HARNELL, AND MARK HAMILL!
Next, we walked as fast as possible to Michael Madsen and the line didn’t take too long. Chelsea couldn’t decide on a picture she wanted signed but she eventually did. But he was like, “Take your time, Chelsea Gill.” Then I had him sign my Reservoir Dogs DVD. And then he gave me a hug as we took a picture. It was great cuz while I was paying for the thing, he bent over to get a drink of beer which was so Michael Madsen.
I MET MICHAEL MADSEN!
We came back later and bought 2 books of poetry of his and a CD. We read his poetry, completely random, completely odd and funny, completely insightful, completely awesome.
After our meeting with Mr. Blonde (and before we bought his books) we went downstairs and the writer and creator of the Fairly Oddparents were there. Me and Chelsea were the oldest people in line, which is really sad, but it’s a great show. The writer, Steve Marmel signed my poster and drew an arrow to Cosmo and wrote, “The Dumb one!” and Butch Hartman (creator) signed it after that. And we stayed around that booth and just took pictures of the guy whose the voice of Plankton on Spongebob since they cut the line.
Me and Chelsea then headed over to the New Line booth and Rick Porras was there! We didn’t have anything LOTR since we packed everything so we just had him sign our programs. He said he would have given us his animal crackers box but he wasn’t finished with them. I told him I could wait. Hello, dude it would be AWESOME if we got Rick Porras’ leftover animal crackers box. My autograph read, “Greetings from Middle Earth! Hope you enjoy ROTK EE. Rick Porras.” Like I won’t.
It was a bittersweet day. Met buncha famous people (MARKHAMILLMICHAELMADSEN!) but it was the last day. I hope Dominic comes back next year and I’ll meet him because then it would be three times, I’ve missed not meeting that crazy bastard whom I love with all my heart.
*crosses fingers that she’ll go next year*

As you know, we weren't allowed to take picture with David and Billy so that's the explaination for that. Our film came back all messed up *shakes fist* so that's the reason for no Dominic or no Keanu. I'm very saddened by this. Hopefully, we'll get them. So look for updates on those pictures and also pictures of my autographs. =)
thankful
